How I Withdraw GCash Funds Without Paying a Transfer Fee
These days, GCash has become one of the most popular ways to send and receive money. Whether it’s for online payments, gifts, side hustles, or even salaries, GCash has made money management a lot more convenient.
But what happens if you don’t have a GCash card and need to withdraw your funds? The usual option is to transfer the money directly to your bank account via InstaPay — but that comes with a transfer fee. And for someone who thinks every peso counts (like me!), those fees can quickly add up.
So, how do I avoid paying those extra charges? Here’s my tried-and-tested method:
Step 1: Open your GCash app
Log in and tap on “GSave.” You’ll see a list of GCash’s partner banks for digital savings.
Step 2: Choose CIMB Bank
I personally recommend creating a CIMB Bank account. Why? Because CIMB offers five free bank transfers per day — yes, five! That’s a pretty sweet deal if you frequently move money around.
Step 3: Set up the CIMB app
Download the CIMB app from the Play Store or App Store, and register using the same details linked to your GSave account. It’s easy and doesn’t take long.
Step 4: Transfer funds from GCash to CIMB-GSave
Whenever you receive money in your GCash wallet, simply transfer it to your CIMB-GSave account. It only takes a few taps.
Step 5: Transfer from CIMB to your bank account — for free!
Once the funds are in CIMB, you can transfer them to any local bank without paying a fee, thanks to the daily free transfers CIMB provides.
Bonus Perks of Using GSave
Aside from saving on transfer fees, there are two more reasons why I love using GSave:
-
Earn interest on your money — something your regular GCash wallet doesn’t offer.
-
Keep your money safer — it’s generally better to store your funds in a savings account rather than leaving a large amount sitting in your wallet.
This simple strategy has saved me hundreds of pesos over time — and more importantly, it’s taught me that smart money habits don’t always require big changes, just better choices.
Give it a try and see how much you can save too!
